Cornwall September 2010
Most people tow a caravan, a trailor tent or a trailor with their camping gear in when they go on holiday. Not me, I tow a trailor with my Quantum 582 on. We stayed at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park just south of St. Austell and thanks to Mike Hanley and the Roche Aero Club I was able to fly from their airfield at Roche. It is a lovely airfield just north of St. Austell well worth a visit if you are down that way and about 10 miles by road from Pentewan Sands. Lesley and I decided to combine a holiday with some flying, the same as we did last year at Freshwater Fruit Farm. As we hadn't been back to Cornwall for some time that was, for us, the obvious choice. When the kids were young one of our favourite places where we used to take them camping was Tregarton Farm, very close to Goran Haven. I thought that it would be nice to go and fly around that part of the the Cornish Coast. So we found some accomodation at Pentewan Sands and then spoke to Mike about flying from Roche. Within a week it was all arranged, my son, daughter-in-law and grandaughter decided that they would join us for a well needed break. Unfortunately Lesley wasn't able to fly with me but my son Adrian joined me for the first flight and the pictures are posted in this album. I know a lot of you are thinking why not just fly but its so handy to have the car to be able to get around for the family stuff. It does involve some time and effort taking the Quantum on the trailor but it was well worth it. Where are we going to go next year, better start searching now!
